Current Initiatives

Currently the Remsen growth coalition is working on a few different exciting initiatives.

In the business sector, we have partnered with Start Up Siouxland to create a business round table for small business owners and administartors in Remsen. This group meets once a month on the fourth Monday to discuss current challenges they are facing, and to learn about a specific topic from professionals. So far we have covered local government, and human resources. If you our someone you know is interested in joining this group please have them reach out to our email remsengrowth@gmail.com.

Related to events, members of the coalition are working together with the Olde Fashion Christmas committee to plan a "Christmas in Remsen" weekend. Saturday will be focused on supporting small businesses with a holiday gift guide released in November, Sunday will have different Christmas activities for families and children, and Monday will be the traditional Olde Fashion Christmas. The fesitval of trees will be extended to all weekend long and we highly encourage businesses and groups to enter a tree. There will be more details to come and we are super excited for this event! Recently, coaliton member Cade Owens secured a grant from the Iowa DNR for planting trees in town. The trees will arrive in the spring and need to be planted and watered routinely for the next two years. We are looking for those passionate about our outdoor spaces to step up and help with planting or the continued watering needed to ensure their survivial.
